Quince Video For Spanish Class"La Quinceañera" is great documentary film to show in your spanish class. Both video and audio are clear, and the English subtitles are accurate. Best used in Spanish language and social studies classes to illustrate this cultural rite of passage and the binding character of Mexican family life. A lesson plan is now available in both Spanish and English and is another execellent resource for the Spanish classroom. Read the review below: "I was taking a chance on buying this without seeing it but I needed a DVD to show after I taught my Spanish 1 class about the ceremony of the Quinceanera. I was very pleased with this. It shows how a family in Mexico comes together to give the last of a mother's 5 daughters a beautiful ceremony for her 15th. The video is all in Spanish with subtitles. It is a real family. It shows the mother's emotions and struggles as she explains her coping with an unfaithful husband and also how the daughter reacts to his coming to the ceremony. My students really liked it too." -Mary Jane Norman |

Library Review for Quinceañera movieOur library serves a community that’s 38% Hispanic and we strive to include culturally relevant and authentic materials on Hispanics and Mexico in our collections. La Quinceañera is a valuable addition. Not only has it been appreciated by our community - it has been constantly off the shelves since we acquired it - it has also inspired a quinceañera-themed day at the library during Hispanic Heritage Month which will include a screening of the documentary, a dress fashion show and party favor crafts, among other activities.
